Energy Efficiency provides fast and cost-effective emission reductions – but global efficiency rates are not increasing fast enough- even though technologies are available today. That’s why Mission Efficiency called for an ambitious global energy efficiency target at COP28. The first global stocktake of the Paris Agreement calls on Parties to contribute to the goal of doubling the global average annual rate of energy efficiency improvements by 2030. Now is the time for actionable steps to ensure progress toward the doubling the energy efficiency rate to keep climate goals within reach.
We, as Mission Efficiency partners:
By embracing a commitment to tangible action, organizations and governments play a pivotal role in transforming our energy consumption patterns and harness the full potential of energy efficiency to power households, increase the share of renewable energies and create jobs and improve lives.
By submitting a Mission Efficiency pledge, you join a global movement of changemakers, and an energy efficiency ecosystem determined to drive progress and support implementation to build an energy efficient world.
The Energy Compacts are voluntary, trackable commitments launched at the High-Level Dialogue on Energy convened by the UN Secretary-General in September 2021. The Energy Compacts are designed to spur action towards SDG7 in line with net-zero goals.
Join a partner-led Energy Compact or submit your own custom UN Energy Compact using the Mission Efficiency Energy Compact Guide.
Download the Mission Efficiency Energy Compact Guide to develop a new Energy Compact or increase energy efficiency ambition in an existing compact. For any queries, please contact us at [email protected] with a copy to [email protected].
Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)
NDCs contain information on targets, and policies and measures for reducing national emissions and on adapting to climate change impacts. The Paris Agreement (Article 4, paragraph 2) requires each Party to prepare, communicate and maintain successive NDCs that it intends to achieve.
Mission Efficiency collaborates with the NDC Partnership to enhance, update and include energy efficiency targets on NDCs. Please contact [email protected] for any queries.
