The Narrative Taskforce is redefining how the world talks about energy efficiency. The focus shifts from sacrifice to abundance—from using less to living better. This new narrative highlights what efficiency delivers for people and countries: comfort, healthier homes, lower bills, cleaner air, stronger economies, and energy systems that work for everyone. It draws on human experience rather than technical language and uses emotion-based storytelling to make efficiency relatable, aspirational, and rooted in everyday life.
A human-centred narrative recognizes that behaviour and motivation drive real change. People act when solutions feel positive, easy, empowering, and aligned with their values. Governments act when they see public demand, economic opportunity, and political relevance. The Taskforce uses insights from behavioural science, incentives, and lived experience to craft messages that inspire ambition, mobilize new commitments, and build political support. This approach turns energy efficiency into a movement rather than a mandate—one that encourages countries, communities, and industries to take stronger, faster action.

Help shape a powerful new narrative that drives action and ambition on energy efficiency worldwide.

It is time to flip the narrative of the benefits, experiences and feelings received from energy efficiency in our lives by developing emotion-based and humanized messaging that inspire a non- reductionist and abundant modern life.
