About the Marketplace Taskforce

The Marketplace Taskforce brings together governments, financiers, and solution providers to convert energy efficiency and cooling ambitions into structured, investment-ready opportunities. It supports countries to identify priority sectors, build pipelines of projects, and connect them with appropriate financing partners. The Taskforce strengthens coordination across public and private actors and promotes standardized approaches to project preparation, aggregation, and delivery. This is critical in markets where fragmentation and limited capacity constrain scale.

The main barrier to scaling energy efficiency is not a lack of capital, but a lack of investable opportunities. Projects are often fragmented, high risk, or insufficiently developed to attract finance at scale. The Taskforce addresses these constraints by strengthening project origination and matchmaking, aligning stakeholders to enable integrated investments, and supporting mechanisms that reduce risk. These efforts lower transaction costs, improve bankability, and accelerate the flow of private capital into energy efficiency and cooling solutions.
